OUR BACKGROUND

Toby's background

Enthusiastic young engineer

An enthusiastic engineer who enjoys the challenge of creating, repairing and improving things. At The King's School Worcester, he is a Lower Sixth student (age 17) studying Maths, Physics & Design Technology at A-Level.
His passion for engineering has led him to compete in the World Championships of the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge winning Research & Development as well as the National Finals twice. In addition to this his work has been recognised with an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.

For a GCSE DT project he looked at addressing the needs of the elderly by designing a pill dispensing device. It aimed to balance mechanics with product aesthetics by utilising laser-cut living-hinges for corners. This product integrated the AI (Artificial Intelligence) assistant, Alexa providing timers, music, VOIP calling and many more features, whilst also being suitable for use by everyone in the household, therefore being inclusive.

Mark & PLUS Automation

Helping people #MakeSenseofSensors

PLUS Automation is a family owned business that is proud to be the Master Distributor in the UK & Ireland for Swiss sensor manufacturer, Contrinex - Helping people #MakeSenseofSensors

Inspired by the UK manufacturers who stepped up and supported the NHS battle Coronavirus, Mark (Managing Director - PLUS Automation) was also keen to help beyond the day job of supplying sensors.

"As a parent , you support your children in their projects and interests - in this instance it's been a pleasure helping Toby on such an innovative idea. I hope this spark of imagination grows into a firestorm of activity and help for our hard working NHS and key workers."

the people that have made this possible

It wouldn't have been possible to develop this prototype product without the support of several companies. With all that is going on they have gone out of their way to donate materials, supplies and expert advice - Thank You!
Note - any cooling fans manufactured MUST be donated free of charge to healthcare professionals and carers. This is not a business and shall not be profited from.
